I can't believe this crazy-ass blog has survived over 2 years! My first post was Dec 17, 2006:
And to explictly state what this blog is about: Bend Oregon Real Estate, whether it is or has been in a bubble or not, whether this bubble is/has burst, implications for residents, businesses and others, and just about any topic relevant to the Bend Oregon economy and the surrounding region, and housing in general. With unmoderated discussion, I suppose anything goes though. Hopefully, people will realize the value of staying on topic, and will minimize personal "flame-wars".
I was so much younger then. And naive. In fact here is a picture of me eating breakfast right after that first post:
And the greatest harbinger of things to come were the fanatastic 2 comments I received:

Nice Blog. I will keep reading. Please visit my blog at: The Internet Marketing Genius, Carael Knight
Both almost bought a tear to my eye, especially the blog-spam one. Oh right, they were both blog spam. Here's a picture of me crying, I'm so overwhelmed:
My next post, the very next day, had precisely zero comments. I think I finished out the year with a post of such gut-wrenching emotion and tenderness that one commenter was moved to pen these touching words:

this post is so dull that, after reading it, i wanted to claw my eyes out.
That's when I knew I had found my true calling: Inflicting pain on strangers via real estate blogging. Judging from the number of gouged out eyes I've seen in Bend, I would have to say: Mission Accomplished:
So there were humble beginnings. And most of the initial postings & comments were of a "defensive" nature: Even the idea that Bend was in a Bubble was widely derided as Insane. And there were some people who even denied (Bubble deniers) that a nationwide Bubble existed. Remember that?
Cuz, if you really remember that time, and contrast it with today, and what has transpired since, it just seems unbelievable. Bend was still caught in just an endless euphoria about the future. Bend is Immune was the mantra.

- The City was not perilously close to bankruptcy.
- Black dudes were known for beatin' they wives, smokin the cracker, fuckin, and shootin whitey, not being President.
And there is probably more. Much more. The point?
It's been a hell of an eventful couple of years. Most of the real crazy shit has happened in the last 6 months. I mean The Giants of The Financial Universe have been hobbled.
I guess my main point is this: Having seen how far we've come, how people like Jody Denton's business eyes were too big for their stomach, you might want to exercise some restraint. Because this thing is, AT MOST, about half over.
We have gone from $396K medians to $239K, that's down 40% from top to bottom. Another 40% down is Very, Very Easily possible, which would take us down to $143K.
Folks, when we hit medians in the $140's, and it will happen, Bend is not going to be a place that about 70-75% of the population even recognizes. The old codgers will, but it will be the 4 Bees that rule the roost: Butter, Beans, Bullets, and Bullion.
This place will be like a hyper-magnified version of much of the US. We aren't going to sink back into the Stone Age, like some have posted here (IMO), but we will NEVER return to the hyper-consumption-fueled prosperity of the past 3 decades. That time is over.
But you'd do well to read into Denton's comments about What He Is Doing Now.
He's Leaving Bend, and He's Leaving Oregon.
“I had a very long and prosperous career before I came to Bend,” he said, “and I’ll do what’s best for me and my family. It will definitely be outside of the state of Oregon.”
He's telling us something.
When all is said and done, Bend, In The Best Of Times, left this very talented & decent person, completely broken. Broken financially yes, but worse, just broken from the experience.
“Getting to this point has been stressful and difficult,” the chef said. “For my wife and myself, there was a sense of relief once the decision was made.”
Once you make the decision, once you realize that you can stop fighting the impossible battle, there is a Huge Sense Of Relief. Denton is a talented guy, a guy with resources, a guy with a plan & the ability to execute: And this place broke him.
And I have to give him credit for one of The Best Lines Ever from a Bend Businessman quoted in The Bulletin:
“But the question became: How wise is it to keep feeding this thing when all it does is eat?”
I will leave it at that.
958 comments:
«Oldest ‹Older 1 – 200 of 958 Newer› Newest»Thank you for getting your math right on the 40% drop. The Realtors almost never do.
Even though they carry around calculators with a delta% key!
I have to give The Bull some kudos for running adverse "material" in that Merenda piece.
There's some philosophical insight there that they typically SMITE from the paper.
Denton laid out some real zingers that ordinarily would have been edited out.
Editor must have been drunk.
I guess I wrote this New Years post from the perspective of a Warning:
Dunc said it best: With respect to the Hollern, Smith, and Buzzard:
But....I will make one observation. Once again the Bulletin has left off the all important word "YET". We may not be as bad as those two previous downturns, but it ain't played out YET.
This one is not even close to played out. A lot of people might start the New Year all optimistic and happy, and thinking that the worst is behind us.
It is not. Believe me. We will almost certainly see DEPRESSION-ERA UNEMPLOYMENT in Bend before 2010 is out. That's 15-20%. It will be horrendous.
Don't jump on the train (Shoot, I didn't mention the closing of the Crooked River Dinner Train) that we're out of the woods. We're not even close to out of the woods.
And when we do bottom, there should be NO RUSH to buy. The speculative days of the housing market are gone, never to return. We need to see 2-3 years of NORMAL appreciation, 2-4%/yr, before an All Clear can be sounded.
This thing is NOT DONE.
I've also learned a lot from this blog:
People who are SURE in their minds that something is Going To Work, are going to do it.
I mean, you could present them with a video of the future, and they still will not believe it.
I could have showed Denton a video of Merenda & deep being unceremoniously shutdown, and he'd have started both anyway. People get smarter, but people never LEARN.
I would predict that Denton is going to the next Bubble City he can find, if he can find one. And he'll make the exact same mistakes again. ALl my NASDAQ-buted buddies from 2001 were the same ones calling me in 2006 about how they were going to clean up in RE.
I just find that amazing. Same blind spots, to the same perils. Over and over again.
Christ, this blog has been up & running for 2 years, making what I think has been a solid logic case for a Bust, and I'll bet people of the Bubble Mindset paid it no mind.
I know there are some people who avoided disaster, and said so. But the vast majority doubled down, even as Rome burned.
Just amazing.
Yeah, and watch for the tsunami of Bend business closures coming. Ain't going to be in The Bull.
People will do The Volo/Speedshop Thing: Strip mine the place & run like hell.
My New Year's Resolution is to teach Realtors about their business.
So let's get started.
Your calculator is called the HP12C Financial Calculator. It's more expensive and slower than newer financial calculators, but you bought it because that's what everyone else has. You may even have one of the higher-priced special editions, or an engraved one! If so, way to go!
Take it out of its case and make sure it is oriented correctly. You should be looking at the front of the calculator, which has keys on it, not at the empty back of the calculator.
The "ON" button should be at the bottom left of the calculator. If you see a "NO" button at the upper right, rotate it 180 degrees. (Be careful not to rotate it around the wrong axis, or you'll be looking at the back of the calculator again!)
Press the ON button.
The button we'll learn how to use today is the delta percentage button. It looks like a triangle followed by "%". Perhaps you played the triangle in the school band.
Using the number keys on the right, enter the starting value of a house. For example, 699900. Note: You don't enter any dollar signs or commas.
Now, press ENTER. Then, press the ending value of the same house. It might be something like 329000.
Now press that delta percentage key.
Isn't that amazing?! Your calculator can actually prevent you from making awkward mistakes when you're interviewed by a newspaper.
No more will you be caught saying foolish things like, "how could it fall another 50%? It would be zero!"
My editors asked me to do our quarterly story on The Oregonian Index of stocks. It covers what's left of the public companies based in Oregon and Southwest Washington. It used to be the Oregonian 50 but it's now down to 46 because that's all there is left.
The story turned out to be mainly one about real estate. Pacific Continental Bank's stock outperformed every other company in the index. Read the story after the jump to find out how the Eugene bank did it.
Bank's real estate caution nets good results

HOMER YOU READING THIS SHIT????
January 1, 2009 1:44 PM
...
Here's the rub.
1.) The new brewery runs at less than 50% of capacity, they tried to buy more market share and failed.
2.) The new pub in PDX cost $7M ($3M building aka gutted auto-garage, and $4M for improve ) cash, and is mediocre at best. It was an ego presentation in the pearl.
3.) Fish is 100% privately held guy, that ran a good restaurant that bade beer. Fish is a MAJOR PUG REPUBLICAN, which prevents him from being 'creative'. This is why he didn't capture CALI, & Colorado beer market, he can't compete against Sierra-Nevada, or New Belgium.
I think Fish is the classic over extended bubble guy. Had he stuck to basics, he could be like 'silver moon' forever.
The bene's are now over, the staff has been de-moralized. Why? The fucking burn at 1&2 above.
The PDX pearl is 100X of downtown BEND, in terms of 'fine dining' and its going down and Hard, thank Homer Williams, the Broken-Top God.
"how could it fall another 50%? It would be zero!"
:-) !
Wait, wait...you're going too fast.
The 'on' button?
Dunc,
If you're afraid of breaking your calculator, you might want to practice with this software emulator.
http://www.epx.com.br/ctb/hp12c.php
Be careful not to break your computer!
Doh! Some things you left off the list.1) No local realtors/business people had been "shocked" or found things "shocking" by any news reports. Back then it was all about what was going up. 2)The idea of the possibility of a foreclosure/short sale or price decline in the coveted NWX was a sure ass smiting as well because even as Bend was showing signs of bubble fallout, "Not NWX !" it was even more different than Bend, how could you smitees even suggest such a thing?3) Conspiracy theory mania had not yet caught like wildfire just yet (I love those rabid fuggers)
Happy New Year!! to you and your smelly kunt.

Takeovers — Has Leucadia Chairman Ian Cumming met his match in the backwoods of Oregon?
Few can match wits with corporate bottom feeder Ian Cumming when it comes to wringing money out of white elephants. The media-shy head of Leucadia National did it with insurer Colonial Penn and Sperry & Hutchinson of S&H Green Stamps fame, and now is at work on a $6 billion bailout of ailing Finova Group.
But Powdr Corp., the undervoweled outfit owned by Cumming and his sons John and David, got more than it bargained for when it bid on a remote Oregon ski resort.
For folks who usually traffic in billion-dollar companies, the 8,122-acre Mt. Bachelor resort in Oregon's Deschutes National Forest probably looked like easy pickings. The mountain lost $207,100 on $22 million in sales last ski season and attracted only 480,010 skiers, down from a recent peak of 582,000 in 1995. The dividend was suspended.
The Cummings have been lusting after Mt. Bachelor since 1996 but were initially rebuffed by the scattered families who control the stock. With a portfolio that includes Park City Mountain Resort in Utah and three California ski areas, Powdr could use Mt. Bachelor to provide more geographical diversification and boost its projected $63 million in revenues by about 30% this year.
So in December, when Mt. Bachelor looked for buyers, the Cummings offered a lowball bid of $28million, $6 million less than they had offered in 1996. In time they got the support of Mt. Bachelor's founding family. "John [Cumming] is a mountain man," swoons Beverley Healy, widow of the resort's founder.
But what they didn't count on was Randall Papé. In his day job Papé sells tractors and small airplanes from Eugene, Ore. His family is Mt. Bachelor's largest shareholder, with 23% of the 1,382 shares.
As Papé saw it, the Cummings were exploiting turmoil on the board and Mt. Bachelor's current troubles to steal the property from its local owners. "We had, in effect, done a shotgun sale, and the timing was terrible," says Papé, whose board supporters snubbed the Cummings.
Fed up, the Cummings launched their bid as a hostile takeover, offering $20,100 a share and even throwing in a sweetener of free lifetime ski passes. Papé upped the ante with his own competing offer of as much as $26,000 and brought in Intrawest, the big Canadian ski conglomerate, as his partner.
The Cummings claim they were tendered a majority of the shares in March, but it may be a Pyrrhic victory. Many ski operators make less money on skiing than they do on real estate or amenities. That could be a challenge at Mt. Bachelor, which sits in a national forest and faces more than the usual red tape if it tries to develop slopeside lodgings. As it is, the nearest overnight accommodations are about 20 miles away, in Bend or Sunriver.
And Papé isn't going away. Just as the Cummings declared victory, Papé managed to tangle them up in court with a temporary restraining order that put the deal on ice.
"Listen, you're talking to somebody who survived upper bowel cancer," says Papé. "I was diagnosed to be terminal five years ago. So this is peanuts compared to that."
Shortly thereafter PAPE lost the MT-B deal, went on to purchase INN@7th, which became a nightmare of money making for lawyers, ...
Today PAPE is dead, Cummings won, and the cancer beat PAPE.
What did Cummings really win? Like they said in 2001 a Pyrrhic Victory, still a fucking money loser, with management flip twice a year.
>> My New Year's Resolution is to teach Realtors about their business.
Beautiful Timmy!

Send them to Summit-1031-University, I hear they have openings this year.
>>>Baby Jeebus had not yet smited us.<<<
I am smitten with the wisdom that has come out of this blog, following since 08/07. Ya all have been right on the money. The declines may have been even more than your prophecies.
You are the men, cunts and all! Smelly or not. I raise you all up and bow in your presence of the blogger world.
Pleeze Baby Jeebus...do Smit those that deserve it! Some much more thatn others..the double downs should go down hard...the stupid are just beginning to learn their lessons. The greedy, like Denton, are bugging out, just a matter of make it while you can than ditch the MFer's. Of course we are the MFer's for ever spending our hard earned dimes on their expensive shit. My beef barley soup at .50 cents per serving is much better and good for you.
Glad that 2008 got us started on the disasterous downward spiral of Bend. None of us knows how it will really play out. But..God save us!

Don't forget the real estate, doofus, and I don't mean slope side lodging... They sold of the parking lot for more than 50% of their purchase price. They'll spin the rest off in a few years for $50M+ to some conglomerate ski chain owner after raping and pillaging a bit more.
Hey, that last pic was a real beauty.
And all this time I thought Marge was an old white woman.... silly me. She hot!!

I am an old white woman, much as portrayed at angrybitch.
How do I post a photo here? I'll give you my latest retiree photo.
Change subject.. I sent WAMU my last house payment and they sent it back...they want a certified check to pay it completely off. I thought they needed money! Dumb F##*ks.
I think Denton was telling us something.
He sure was. Merenda & Deep is an anagram for:
Deep. Red. Amen.
Just to set things straight I want to say, Thanks for the memories boyz! The best be with you.
It's also an anagram for Diapered Men.
Just to set things straight I want to say, Thanks for the memories boyz! The best be with you...
Wait, wait, wait. What the heck you sayin' Marge?
You're not really leaving are ya?
Well we won't have to hear "I'm from california so much", and how great and wonderful it is down there. Why the hell did they move here in the first place? Notice they did not get a stronghold on la grand or baker.Bend could just become the old sleepy town, depressed economically but not an artificial intrusion of cali.I like the idea of sleepy town that is what oregon is all about.Anti growth.
Fuck no I'm not leavin. Just try to get rid of me you gruel eaters.
I am leaving RE though, to some degree. If any of you A holes want a good referral to some of the best in the biz you can find my email by clicking on Marge or as my friends call me "Margie".

Marge,

This group is pathetic. I'm quite surprised you have endured. Get down to Mexico with your sister while you two can still enjoy one another.

[ hmmm ]
They sold of the parking lot for more than 50% of their purchase price.
[ yes, but what about the ROI? ]
They'll spin the rest off in a few years for $50M+ to some conglomerate ski chain owner after raping and pillaging a bit more.
[ now that they have 'peeled' off the good shit, who in the fuck will buy the money loser, do you have any fucking idea, that Powdr-Corp hasn't put a NICKEL into anything up there since they bought the bitch? ]
No, when Powdr-Corp is gone, all their will be is wire-cable on a MTN, the buses will be sold to BEND as their city-fleet, the bus-station by DMV will be condo's.
The city of BEND will create JR2, and Ray & Jeff will get $2.5M to plan the new MT-B.
Nobody can develop in Bend like city, and hell we know they need MT-B to sell condo's.
Forest Service under OREO will sell Mt-B to Bend for $1. Knife-River will get the biggest job in history, and MOSS will become the Bank of Mt-B.
From BendBB:

Cannot be any worst than that which we already know & remember from the golden years of 1983.
The best of times.
The Cali's will be long gone, back to D&D; JC's, and Silver-Moon will replace Deschutes.
Tourists will not spend a second in the New 'old bend'.
What happen's now is all those who paid for the winter-vacation, are going to be stuck eating crap at the lame, ... all of COVA's PR&MARKETING about what a great night life, and how much there is to do in BEND. The reviews will be....
What do you find most appealing? Plywood? Particle-board? Composite? Melamine? I prefer pastel on the plywood.
Do all you KUNTS know that tie-dye is coming back?? With enough plywood BEND could be marketed as a post-bubble ghost town. Giant fucking places like Merenda could be haunted, as they sit for years with rats, deer mice, and vermin running wild.
I now exactly how it will play out, exactly like last time, and the time before that, this town actually never changes, desert towns never change. Neither to Florida swamp-land sales towns. Only newbies think that this cycle is different. Been here for 40+ years, and you know you have seen it all before too many times.
They're all new MOSS@CACB, COSTA@BULL, HBM@SORE, ... they all talk shit, cuz they all are new, and they're SHOCKED. Who would have known that good marketing wouldn't make everyone in BEND rich?
Who could have known that expanding Deschutes Brewery 1000X that nobody would buy the fucking beer. Who could have known??
To me the worst part of this cycle has been the cock-sure belief in the almighty PR&MARKETING of BEND. ( COVA @ taxpayer expense )
A total waste of fucking money, albeit OPM, think how many MILLIONS of DOLLARS that MERENDA has burnt of OPM.
That is so fuckin' great. You run an owners-only HOA down in Cali, Buster?
*
This is so FUCKING BEND, what do you think will become of Pronghorn, or Brasada, I mean it will get rented, and the people who paid for "BEND FUCKING EXCLUSIVENESS".
DO YOU KUNTS HAVE ANY FUCKING IDEA??
At HIGHLANDS @ BROKEN-TOP people at the peak were paying $2M for a lot, that was less than $500k in 2004, and for what "EXCLUSIVENESS", why the fuck do you think NEUMAN has a shit-fit??
Awbrey is Exclusive, Widgi, ... Mt-B village, ... gated community's, but now that people can't afford to travel to Bend, and can't sell the shit they RENT it, ... How does that effect the KUNTS who paid top dollar to live in the 'exclusive'??? To swim in a pool with children and welfare mothers?? Ahhh affordable housing, rent @ Prongy? or Brasada? or Yarrow, ...
How do you think this shit ends??
The final people will spend their last nickel fighting the poor who rent and have pro-bono legal aide lawyers,...
Bend takes money, and returns nothing, ... Don't walk from your HOA, RUN ... the Renters are coming, and they're going to pee in your fool, and shit in your golf holes. Your worst fucking nightmare, ...Sure you can make rules and enforce HOA's, but they don't have a lawyer running on a clock, and you'll settle just to avoid court, cash settlement.
Yes, I read that story at BEBB a fucking bore, ... but its coming to BEND, its coming to ALL of BEND's best places, the gates are coming down, cuz socker-mom on thorazine will take out the gate, and there is no HOA budget to repair the gate, ...
What else did you fucking expect?? They came to BEND to retire, ... like the PONZI would go forever, PONZI's never go forever, you always run out of fools. There is NOBODY left to fool, and even the CACB know has to deal with this reality.
So now EVERYTHING will be rented, there will be meth labs in the inner core of pronghorn, the best places in BEND will be meth cook houses, because its that are let them sit empty and go to seed.
Slowly as Widgi, INN@7, MT-B village, Brok-Top, ... all of BEND goes section-8 government housing, and the blacks/mexicans come in, slowly the whites will leave, in 5-10 years all of BEND that we see today will be a ghetto.
Sure the inner core will be fine, along drake park. Some things never change.
How do you think this shit ends??
The real point is....is...it doesn't end.
Bend is cyclical, always has been.
Stay long enough and you say "OH here we go again".
Bend is somehow very sensitive to the rapists(financial and others.....like the land rapists).
The Bend survivors may include the speakers on this blog. The readers here may obfuscate ( too big a word for me) to other regions. As they leave they will continue reading our/your shit from distant areas..
Never, never, never, ever give up this blog!
Butter. You are the main wiener..Keep up the good.

To manage ones way out of this is next to impossible. One must move with the avalanche, trying to stay in place will be an unforgiving position and death defying.
Mannna baby..

That's a good question. Don't know.

Whoaaa your talking like someone in the RE biz, I don't have a horse in this RE gig. There is no avalanche coming, most of these tards will leave. When this is over there might be 20 realtors, 2 mtg brokers, down from 2,000 realtors, so in your 'world' it is the end of the world, in my world, its like somebody has flushed the toilet.
I imagine a turd in a toilet bowl thinks that an avalanche occurs everytime the toilet is flushed.
You just don't stand in the path of an avalanche to avoid them.
Like in BEND, it will be 'bend stupid' to hang out in parking lots after dark on the east-side.
End of the world?? Hell no.
We're going back to a population below 50k, albeit all of our RICH will be gone, all the shitty Prongy golf-clubs will become poor houses, ... but so fucking what, once again we'll have little hard-ware stores in downtown Bend.
Never, never, never, ever give up this blog!
Butter. You are the main wiener..Keep up the good.
*
Butter will bail within a year, he ain't staying and once he's gone he's gone.
In years to come 'cargo cultists' will be posting his old rants every sunday, and praying for a return of the king.
But butter will not stay in bend.
ROTFLMA!
Is "The Loft" still open? Timmy?

How many people paid $50k for a membership in the bledsoe cigar club??
Then it was $5k.
Now how much ??
There is NOTHING to do in BEND.
Every fucking BAR in Bend has a big screen to watch fool-ball's.
Bledsoe is bleeding and fucking bad. Worst time in 20 years to have put +$10M in Bend-Orygun.
Speaking of Diapered Men, are the guys in the Loft getting their food from the D &D now that Volo is gone?
###
Like Marge said the other day, want breakfast in Bend? D&D
Want lunch? D&D
Want happy-hour? D&D
Where do the LOFT diapered men go? I think they left Bend already.
Shit I haven't seen a fucking COUGAR at the astro-lounge for MONTHS, that is a canary in the COAL mine.
The COUGARS were feeding on the diapered LOFT-MEN, ... the cougars are now broke, the young men servicing them don't want to fuck granny for free.
Go to Astro-Lounge now and its kids upstairs sipping lemon-drops, and 50+ yr old couples down-stairs doing the $4 for two feed share, 24/7 astro-now has happy-hour.
Bend has fucking changed much in the last three months.
Butter will bail within a year...
Hey, I ain't sayin' that ain't true.
I think Bend will get so bad, that many noobs (last 20 yrs) won't be able to take the heat, and will pull a Denton.
Things are OK for me here now... but 15-20% unemployment has a way of destroying a place.
This place will be like Russia after the wall came down: New paradigm, and a lot of people will be unable to cope, empty store shelves, mob-style justice, etc... 4-B's Rule.
You're right: I got no loyalty to a place that destroys itself from within, is run for narrowly focused interests that buy elections, and is turning into a crime-ridden shithole.
Lot of people won't leave here with anything (eg Denton), but their lives. And that will sound pretty damn good in a few years.
"Lot of people won't leave here with anything (eg Denton), but their lives. And that will sound pretty damn good in a few years."

Denton did lose his shirt, but did he really?
How much "owner"ship did he really have?
The article mentioned 10 or 12 "investors" who pulled the plug on financing.
And a bank that kept feeding the beast, but now no longer.
So whatever Denton put in, he lost. But that might have been only $100K of his own $$.
But next week he sprouts up with his sprouts (kids) and his sprouts (sprouts) in the new Aspen, with a new batch of 12 fools (investors) and repeats the scam.
Re: here is no avalanche coming, most of these tards will leave.

I saw three U-Hauls in the space of five minutes a couple of days ago...
The latest U-Haul pricing matrix for a 14 foot truck:
City To From
PDX $203 $83
SFO $345 $672
LAX $$537 $818
Seattle $203 $216
Cheapter to rent a UHaul than car for driving from PDX...and it costs just as much to go to PDX as it does to Seattle. Lots of people leaving town for Portland?
Denton did lose his shirt, but did he really?
####
Denton lost big, he's a father first. He has lost stability for his children.
He has to walk from his home that is under-water.
He has to start all over.
His kids have to start all over.
When he came to this town, he had committed to making it work, and providing long term stability for his family.
To acknowledge family failure on this level is tough, I think we should leave DENTON alone, and realize there are 10's of 1,000's of DENTONS in Bend, that don't have the courage to do what he is doing.
Like BEM said a long time ago, and I said since day-one, its like the AA prayer "god grant me the serenity to accept, and the courage to change", hanging out in Bend and watching your life be destroyed is easy, doing something about it takes courage.
DENTON fucked NOBODY all the investors thought they were going to get rich, CACB needed DENTON more than he needed them.
Leave DENTON alone, he's a god father, and one of the few honest men in BEND, and he's leaving.
Enough said.
Lot of people won't leave here with anything (eg Denton), but their lives. And that will sound pretty damn good in a few years.

ME & APU wrote extensively, but I'll review, its called "learned helplessness", in the 50's with tests on puppy's and kittens.
The majority in BEND will fall destitute and wait, like DUNC is now waiting for the OREO to fix the fucking economy.
It's NOT coming, like I said we should leave DENTON alone, but that said recognize him as a man of COURAGE, for he tried DAMN hard to make a silk purse (aspen) out of a sow's ear ( bend ), he only gave up cuz MOSS pulled the fucking plug. She only pulled the plug, cuz her handlers pulled the plug on her.
Learned Helplessness is today's BEND, and DENTON got out early. Perhaps in time we'll call the people who got out with their lives a 'denton'.
Perhaps we'll say, "The wife wouldn't have gotten stabbed at Walmart, if her husband had the courage last year to do a Denton".
Perhaps we'll say the 14 yr-old daughter wouldn't be selling herself in prostitution to feed the family, had her parents done a Denton.
Think this is odd? Brazil has had Jewish Doctors for years now in Sao Paulo, prostitute their wives and children for food. I'm talking upper/middle class.
Sure there are many of us that can weather the storm for 10+ years, but many of the 'learned helpless' of BEND have not a weeks worth of food or money.
I think you may be mistaking 'brave' for 'stupid.'
U-Hauls all over the place. If I had to guess, they are mostly leaving. People who have lost their jobs. Who else moves in the winter?
I thought the Merenda was misguided from the beginning. In case you think I'm just always that way, I thought McMenimens and Deshutes Brewery knew what they were doing. I thought restaurants like Staccato were the right size.
But Merenda?
They made the classic Bend mistake of coming to town, looking around, and thinking we're bigger than we are.
The history of "high end" was not all that great up until 5 years ago. It seemed to me that we saw one fancy store after another come and go.
That all changed with the boom.
But which history do we trust? I trust that we revert back to mean, that any store has to survive when things aren't booming not just when they are.
I could rent a big two story building and fill it with books and toys and comics and so on. I could probably even borrow enough to pull it off.
But I don't do it, because my business is appropriately sized for the level of business I'm likely to do in my niche and with the population base.
Sure, I could probably rent a space twice my size and increase business just about enough to pay the rent, and work harder and pay more employees and most of all, lose the location I've been in for 29 years.
Hey, I still have long time residents who don't know I'm here. Moving would only exacerbate the problem.
Anyway, the Merenda was just too big and the infrastructure was just too expensive. Sorry.
Hey, Timmy, know any VC++ dudes with Windows Media experience?
>>Hey, Timmy, know any VC++ dudes with Windows Media experience?
In Bend or remote?
Bend, preferably.
I mean, I think it's possible to do, if you know what you're doing and you understand Bend.
Again, McMenimins.
But....Bend has a misleading aspect.
We have most of the big chainstores, but only because we have barely tipped into the 'Metro' status. Which has the tendency of making us look like towns twice our size (who haven't yet tipped into the second 'Metro' level).
We have a lot of ambitious people move here.
Even the population size misleading, because so many other towns have similar sizes and can handle big malls and such.
But that isn't understanding the isolation. The lack of an interstate. An airport in the next town over. No real four year college. No real large industry.
What I'm saying is, strip away the illusion of the last 5 years and what you got?
Go to COWPU or COISUG and start asking who knows what. Or ask someone at http://blog.bendtech.com/

Contractor. Need to port a bunch of VC++ 5 code to the standardized C++ of VC++ 2003 or better. My main licensee has gotten bunch of interest from one of the major players in the fitness industry and we thought we would bring the code engine up to date. They are taking the PPT deck to China next week for a Board review, and we want to be ready to roll if things go good.
Trudy's out of town at a trade show next week, so I'm going to hammer away on it non-stop. After that I may need someone else to help out. So I figured I would put some feelers out.
Anyway, the Merenda was just too big and the infrastructure was just too expensive. Sorry.

I remember having a beer with the first Merenda manager back in 2005 or a little later at Deschutes.
He said "We've got over 80 employees and its killing us, we're too big, we're going to open this real cool sushi bar that will be just the right size". I responded what about Merenda, I think he said "It's too big", "Too many employees".
We'll here we are 2+ years later, and it was the deep that went down first.
Yes, Merenda and all that money had no fucking idea.
But what about Deschutes in PDX, what a kluster-fuck.
Sure the orginal Deschutes is fine for BEND, in the date (1988) they had no competition, and they're still the destination when the skiing is done at the end of the day.
McMennamins is a real-estate company, every location is bought 25% is for MTG, 25% is for payroll, 25% is for taxes, and 25% is for supplies; if any of those factors are out of 'wack' then MANAGEMENT is fired, and supplies is modified, believe it or not they have no problem with MTG, or Taxes. The problem is Payroll, e.g. people collecting money and not working, but their real problem is people giving away food & booze to friends, so they watch 'supplies' like a hawk, and when it goes over 25% they hire new management.
It's a great formula places all over the PNW, and they now have several BILLION dollars in real-estate. They're NOT a beer company, the beer is just to pay the MTG.
Hell yes, McMennamins is a great concept. To this day the brothers still drink BUD.
McMennamins spreads, hell they could do Elgin or Baker City and make it work, and they made it work in BEND, cuz they have a fucking formula.
The problem with everybody in BEND is they don't have a formula or a plan.

A town the size of where it would have grown organically, i.e. 50-60K, but with an ugly infrastructure and empty buildings because it was built, with inadequate SDCs, for 75,000.
I already like the traffic situation a lot better, but seeing a ton of boarded up building, especially downtown, is going to suck. And I tend to just stay out of STD hell.

You know what you got to do, already little houses around your wifes bike shop have broke $200k.
Walk to the post-office, the park, walk to Long Board Louie for break-fast burritos thats the life.

They have a dream, which tends to get in the way of cold, hard economic reality.
Timmy, thanks for those links. The Coffee club thing looks promising.
>You know what you got to do, already little houses around your wifes bike shop have broke $200k.
Yeah, but they are going to break $150k, possibly 120k for a 1000 sq footer.
Putting down 50k now may still leave you underwater.
Re: You know what you got to do, already little houses around your wifes bike shop have broke $200k.

Yep, but they are going to drop some more. Lots of flippers around there. Kind of blew me away at first. Guys like Ed Himmler, who is up to around 23 NODs now.
But that is the long term plan at the moment.
Somebody here today mentioned 'hard working' ambitious folk in BEND,
I do see it that way, I think HOMER pegged it two years ago.
BEND IS A TOWN OF GRIFTERS.
WELL FUCKING SAID.
This town is 90% marketing and 10% content, and now that there is no more fools coming to BEND we're an engine running on that last 10% of steam cuz all that city-of-bend money spent by cova,cora,coba,... don't mean fucking shit.
Now that the building is over, just wait all those big boxes on I97, and OR20 are going to close. Nobody is going to keep anything open with shit down 80% in gross sales YOY.
Did you KUNTS see todays news? The biggest fucking DROP in manufacturing in 60 years. That is the US average, but BEND is going to see almost ZERO demand for everything, well except UHAULS and fuel to leave.
Yeah, but they are going to break $150k, possibly 120k for a 1000 sq footer.
Putting down 50k now may still leave you underwater.

You guys look at it the wrong way, its going to come fucking back, it always does, your either in the long haul or not.
The trouble is, and I'll say it again, the trouble is next year, the buzzards will arrive and start buying all the good stuff.
Even in the 'day' the issue in BEND (near downtown) was never a bargain, the issue was getting a nice well built house on a big lot, with old trees and off-street parking on preferrably a double-lot. I call that the good stuff, you have always been able to find mill houses on 3,000 sq-ft lots that have no insulation.
Money isn't the issue, the issue is finding a sweet house.
By 2006 or 2008, it will be back up above 4X income, no fucking problem.
In all honesty we'll soon be at $160k, and avg income is falling, but we fucking know that with inflation coming these fucking houses will not be cheap for long.
On the other hand the STD's, ... out +1Mi from core, that shit will go to the sewer, but that will become 'affordable zone', aka little bend mexico.
>In all honesty we'll soon be at $160k, and avg income is falling, but we fucking know that with inflation coming these fucking houses will not be cheap for long.
They will be cheap for at least a year, if not two.
And I'm looking at it right. I have enough to put down one $350k house or a $200k house to live in and a $150k house to rent out. I don't have enough to put down on two $200k houses.
The problem with Porkchop's reasoning is.. he assumes everyone has the same view of the future as him. Yes, he wants to live in a small house close in. I want to live in a 1500 sq ft house close in that I can walk to things from. BUT THIS IS BEND... People want 2500-3000 sq foot with granite counter tops. You have to remember that those STD crap-shacks aren't going to start falling apart for another 8 years. To the average consumer it looks like a much better choice to buy the huge one instead of the shack. Most people don't understand the quality of life that comes from not having to drive. Most people have never lived that way and can't even understand the concept. I hear "what? you are thinking of getting rid of a car?" when I tell them our plans. It's such a fucking foreign concept for 98% of people that you can live without a car for every adult in the household. Fuck, we've got a Vespa and 17 bikes. We'll do fine. But my point is, people aren't ready to live in 1200 sq feet any time soon. Not with gas being cheap again. Those houses are going to get cheaper than you think because the demand isn't going to be there. It SHOULD be, but it won't be. You give the sheeple too much credit.
Re: >In all honesty we'll soon be at $160k, and avg income is falling, but we fucking know that with inflation coming these fucking houses will not be cheap for long.
###
My thinking is we have yet to see the tsunami of REO. This spring should provide a clue. There are simply too many housing units, even around the westside.
Along with the fact that things take a lot longer to go up than go down, we should have a pretty good window ahead of us.
Now finding something reasonably sized and well built on the west side close-in, that is the issue. We want something in the 1000-1500 sq ft zone, probably on the smaller side. The old mill shacks, even if renovated, are still drafty old things with a single gas stove in the living room. And anything built in the last 10 to 15 years is oversize.
But I feel absolutely know need to rush into it. Better to keep stacking up the savings for now, well keeping an eye on the inflation pressure.
while...not well
Re: But my point is, people aren't ready to live in 1200 sq feet any time soon. Not with gas being cheap again. Those houses are going to get cheaper than you think because the demand isn't going to be there. It SHOULD be, but it won't be. You give the sheeple too much credit.

Which fits perfectly into my worldview and planning going forward. Only 1200 feet? How the fuck can two people live in such a small place? Where are you going to put the fucking movie room?
Now let the market push prices down under $100 a foot and we starting to talk.

Okay, so this rock-piss hole seems to love Denton, and bash the Dr. Suicide, RE Developer Suicide, RV Maven Suicide, MBA Investor, RE Ho, and anybody else who grabbed OPM and invested it in Wrong Biz Models (Bend is Aspen, build too-big Luxo-Bistro) and then go under when the economy slows.
I also say Denton is a good father, husband, etc.
But so were many other biz-fools with bad biz sense, and they get slaughtered here when they piss away OPM, screw their investors (fools?), and blow away like yesterday's tumble-weeds. WTF?
As much as Dunc is wrong most of the time (and a bore to boot), he is correct when he calls Merenda for what it was... an unsustainable biz concept for Bend. Merenda worked only when Bend was the next Aspen, not for when Bend is the next Junction City.
And don't get me started on Dead Raw Fish joint Deep. Great for when the Bledsoe boys need to waste their cash impressing 20 somethings, but not so great when money is tight in a 75,000 desert waste land. Burritos? Under $4.50? YouBetcha a good model!! High Priced Sushi? Not so much!
So, Bye Bye Denton. Good luck fleecing the fools in the next town on your journey. Yes, you are a good father, and a poor bizman, and a bad investment for people trying to increase their wealth... like so many other poor biz-men in Bend. Nuttin more, Nuttin less.

WTF??
No BalloonLawnChairDude?
The Greenest form of Transport.... wind power.
Got to love Krugman yesterday:
Bigger Than Bush
As the new Democratic majority prepares to take power, Republicans have become, as Phil Gramm might put it, a party of whiners.
Some of the whining almost defies belief. Did Alberto Gonzales, the former attorney general, really say, “I consider myself a casualty, one of the many casualties of the war on terror”? Did Rush Limbaugh really suggest that the financial crisis was the result of a conspiracy, masterminded by that evil genius Chuck Schumer?
But most of the whining takes the form of claims that the Bush administration’s failure was simply a matter of bad luck — either the bad luck of President Bush himself, who just happened to have disasters happen on his watch, or the bad luck of the G.O.P., which just happened to send the wrong man to the White House.
The fault, however, lies not in Republicans’ stars but in themselves. Forty years ago the G.O.P. decided, in effect, to make itself the party of racial backlash. And everything that has happened in recent years, from the choice of Mr. Bush as the party’s champion, to the Bush administration’s pervasive incompetence, to the party’s shrinking base, is a consequence of that decision.
If the Bush administration became a byword for policy bungles, for government by the unqualified, well, it was just following the advice of leading conservative think tanks: after the 2000 election the Heritage Foundation specifically urged the new team to “make appointments based on loyalty first and expertise second.”
Contempt for expertise, in turn, rested on contempt for government in general. “Government is not the solution to our problem,” declared Ronald Reagan. “Government is the problem.” So why worry about governing well?
Where did this hostility to government come from? In 1981 Lee Atwater, the famed Republican political consultant, explained the evolution of the G.O.P.’s “Southern strategy,” which originally focused on opposition to the Voting Rights Act but eventually took a more coded form: “You’re getting so abstract now you’re talking about cutting taxes, and all these things you’re talking about are totally economic things and a byproduct of them is blacks get hurt worse than whites.” In other words, government is the problem because it takes your money and gives it to Those People.
Oh, and the racial element isn’t all that abstract, even now: Chip Saltsman, currently a candidate for the chairmanship of the Republican National Committee, sent committee members a CD including a song titled “Barack the Magic Negro” — and according to some reports, the controversy over his action has actually helped his chances.
So the reign of George W. Bush, the first true Southern Republican president since Reconstruction, was the culmination of a long process. And despite the claims of some on the right that Mr. Bush betrayed conservatism, the truth is that he faithfully carried out both his party’s divisive tactics — long before Sarah Palin, Mr. Bush declared that he visited his ranch to “stay in touch with real Americans” — and its governing philosophy.
That’s why the soon-to-be-gone administration’s failure is bigger than Mr. Bush himself: it represents the end of the line for a political strategy that dominated the scene for more than a generation.
The reality of this strategy’s collapse has not, I believe, fully sunk in with some observers. Thus, some commentators warning President-elect Barack Obama against bold action have held up Bill Clinton’s political failures in his first two years as a cautionary tale.
But America in 1993 was a very different country — not just a country that had yet to see what happens when conservatives control all three branches of government, but also a country in which Democratic control of Congress depended on the votes of Southern conservatives. Today, Republicans have taken away almost all those Southern votes — and lost the rest of the country. It was a grand ride for a while, but in the end the Southern strategy led the G.O.P. into a cul-de-sac.
Mr. Obama therefore has room to be bold. If Republicans try a 1993-style strategy of attacking him for promoting big government, they’ll learn two things: not only has the financial crisis discredited their economic theories, the racial subtext of anti-government rhetoric doesn’t play the way it used to.
Will the Republicans eventually stage a comeback? Yes, of course. But barring some huge missteps by Mr. Obama, that will not happen until they stop whining and look at what really went wrong. And when they do, they will discover that they need to get in touch with the real “real America,” a country that is more diverse, more tolerant, and more demanding of effective government than is dreamt of in their political philosophy.
###
Effective government. What a thought. Especially here.
FUCK YOU, A BIG FUCK YOU,
...
and what is wrong with Junction City?? We are no Bend, we don't rob people, or fleece retirees, why in the fuck are you putting Junction City in the same league as Bend Oregon??
. People want 2500-3000 sq foot with granite counter tops.

People in Bend want a lot of things, but you have to look at Bend history.
1.) Historically Homes were all small.
2.) It costs $$$ to heat.
3.) Everything is brought in from afar, ...
4.) The road to hell is full of people with good intentions.
5.) Life ain't fair.
6.) There are no MORE stupid fucking 'investors' in Bend.
7.) The bank of Bend is fucked.
8.) 'Bend' is a Pariah to anybody who isn't "STUCK" in Bend.
Dead Raw Fish joint Deep. Great for when the Bledsoe boys need to waste their cash impressing 20 somethings, but not so great when money is tight in a 75,000 desert waste land. Burritos? Under $4.50? YouBetcha a good model!! High Priced Sushi? Not so much!

I really think that the Bank of BEND, and COVA, needed the "DEEP" & Merenda more than Denton needed Bend.
Remember the marketing of Bend, even of most late has been what a wonderful fucking culinary delight is Bend.
The REHO's and Bankers of Bend have gotten bitch slapped and hard in the last month of 2008.
Hell even the BULL is no longer saying that shit smells like flowers. Costa is fucking worried. Moss is toast. Hollern, Smith, ... know that this is the big one, that nobody is going to survive this one by sticking your head in the mud.
Hell yes, sell $3.50 Burritos, and make $.25 on each one, and sell 100 a day, and make a whopping fucking $25 profit each day, and that be $750 month, take home!!! Better hope you can have your wife make them, and you kids wash the dishes. Better hope that like 'taco-stand' you can be next to the washing-machine, and be able to sleep in the back.
That is what is so fucking amazing, the drop in expendable money. Think about downtown today, all salons and boutiques!!! All this shit is fucked.
Yes, tight money in a town that only 2+ YEARS ago rained wine, women, and cocaine, every fucking night at city events ( SORE ) all over town.
Now on, its PBR.
Sure old timers were 'tight' all along, but our newbies in the last ten years, they think BEND is FUN!! Exciting.
No problem for me, cook at home, go hiking, ... but what are the majority of our Walmart and KMART shoppers going to do? Especially without a job??
Just went to the Loft website - and from there, to Volo and the condos for sale. Methinks a lot of people were extremely full of themselves. After all, it's the freaking middle of NOWHERE - Hwy.97 high desert, for heaven's sake. Any of those 1.5MM condos sell?
We had the same deal with the Spaghetti Factory folks pouring $4MM into Lucier, in the teeth of a recession. OK, entrepreneurs need optimism, but that was trying to force a square peg into a round hole - and Lucier was DOA (OK, it lasted six months, in a city of almost 2 MILLION people). Gotta say, that Volo website was something else - but why do I want to sit and pick my way through a big advertisement? Successful Strategies For Selling Your Mobile Home Park
Anaheim, CA January 2 2009
Selling you park is a big moment for you. It is time to reap all the rewards of your hard work, risk-taking and judgment. So why not maximize the money that you can put in your pocket – or your 1031 account. There are some strategies that can increase the profitability of the sale enormously.
Fine Tune Your Rent Months Before You Put It On The Market
Boosting the lot rent amount is the #1 way to increase cash flow on your park, leading to a higher sales price. Don’t forget that, at a 10% cap rate, every dollar you make over a year is worth 10 times that amount to the buyer. That $20 rent increase you have been holding back on your 100 lot park is actually $20 x 100 x 12 x 10 = $240,000! So before you even think about printing that sales package, get your rents maximized.
Cut Your Expenses
Review each line item and cut everything you humanly can. Remember that the 10 x annual income refers to expenses, too. If you can save $2,000 in costs per month, then there is another $240,000 gain in value. Remember, though, that your expenses have to be real – you cannot cook the books and claim the park has no expenses at all – a bank is going to want to see expenses within the normal industry standards range of 30% to 45% of revenue.
Build A Great Package
The sales package is often your only attempt to sell the park. If the buyer does not understand or care for the package, he’ll never call you back. Instead, you need a terrific presentation that attracts buyers and holds their interest. It should be easy to read and show current revenue and expenses, as well as nice photos and maps. Don’t try and confuse your buyer with a lot of “Proforma” jargon (what the park could be) – it is just confusing and always begs the question “if it’s so easy to do, why hasn’t the seller already done it?”
For more strategies, come to our Summit conference entitled “Successful Mobile Home Park Strategies for the U.S. Recession, to be held in Anaheim, California on February 20 to 22, 2009. For tickets call (800) 950-1364 or go to www.mobilehomeparkstore.com. The economy may be done, but you don’t have to be!

Imagine the tourist armed with the Bend literature.
Parks at the Mirror Pond Gallery lot. Oops. No more Mirror Pond Gallery because they aren't allowed to sell the local artists anymore, which means they can't afford to keep it open. Door locked.
Oh well, let's try these great restaurants... This one's boarded up. This one, too. This one, too.
You guys keep talking about D&D as the place to booze it up,you're right, but now that the smoking ban is in effect the Westside Tavern is my new favorite watering hole,(I liked it anyway but the smoke kept me out of the place most of the time) especially for those of us that live on the westside of the river. I look forward to when Bend is somewhat of a depressed town, I almost moved to Baker City when this place was really zingin. Before long a guy will live good on $24,000 per year here. Grow some food/dope fix this, fix that, plow a little snow and your money for the year is made. The mountain bike trails are still free and won't be leaving town with the Dentons.Maybe we can start rippin up the Badlands again on our dirtbikes and ATV's too. Good riddance to the yuppified Bend. Hey Marge we were thinkin of goin sage rat shootin next week you wanna come? Pick up truck and an 18 pack of Coors Light yeehaww!! I bet you can figure out how to make a nice sage rat stew.
Later,
hillbilly
"and what is wrong with Junction City?? We are no Bend, we don't rob people, or fleece retirees, why in the fuck are you putting Junction City in the same league as Bend Oregon??"
===
Nothing is wrong with Junction City.... if you are Burnt Woods or Alfalfa. In fact, if you are Elmira, then Junction City is almost as cool as Philomath.
But Bend was way past Junction City even in the 70's. JC was one big RV Sales lot with a Dairy Queen (not that there's anything wrong with that), and now (30 yrs later) they have upgraded with a BiMart!
Bend had visions of Aspen, not Junction City, but will have to settle for a 2nd class version of Truckee, with one tenth the skiing.
" I look forward to when Bend is somewhat of a depressed town, I almost moved to Baker City when this place was really zingin."
+
Baker City rocks... it is like the largest metro area between Pendleton and Ontario. And they have a movie theatre and some latte stands where you can buy some coffee drinks. And they now have some micro brews in their grocery store, to go with the Blitz and Bud, for those elite few with a GED (the educated folk). I think they are still a bit out there, but they are certainly not as bad as Junction City.
Maybe that is where Denton is going, Junction City.
>>>Hey Marge we were thinkin of goin sage rat shootin next week you wanna come?<<<<
Sage rats be sleepin right now, but call me in the spring.
I am a fith generation oregonian and when I am traveling through philomath it feels like I'm in oregon but When I'm in bend I feel like a whore who has been screwed by southern cali trash.Keep on moving out go to another boom town. I hear las vegas is hiring.
Boring, maybe. That's up to you.
But where have I been wrong? Go ahead, check. All my predictions are under my name.
Of course, I suppose I could predict three different outcomes under anonymous and never be wrong.
This is becoming a fucking waste of time....
Can't you pick a name and stick to it?
It's like a hall of mirrors. Now with all the Bruces, it's even worse, and there seem to be a couple of new Busters, or he's arguing with himself, and oh, fuck it.
Kunstler:
" My own view is obviously the one called The Long Emergency.
Since the change it proposes is so severe, it naturally generates exactly the kind of cognitive dissonance that paradoxically reinforces the Status Quo view, especially the deep wishes associated with saving all the familiar, comfortable trappings of life as we have known it. The dialectic between the two realities can't be sorted out between the stupid and the bright, or even the altruistic and the selfish. The various tech industries are full of MIT-certified, high-achiever Status Quo techno-triumphalists who are convinced that electric cars or diesel-flavored algae excreta will save suburbia, the three thousand mile Caesar salad, and the theme park vacation. The environmental movement, especially at the elite levels found in places like Aspen, is full of Harvard graduates who believe that all the drive-in espresso stations in America can be run on a combination of solar and wind power. I quarrel with these people incessantly. It seems especially tragic to me that some of the brightest people I meet are bent on mounting the tragic campaign to sustain the unsustainable in one way or another. But I have long maintained that life is essentially tragic in the sense that history won't care if we succeed or fail at carrying on the project of civilization."
###
Most probably, the truth, in our lifetimes at least, lies somewhere between the extremes. Although "history" didn't care about the dinosaurs any more than it may eventually be shown to care about the homo sapiens.
As far as Bend goes, we're a pimple on the ass of history.
"...with all the bruces..."
###
Dunc, it is a hall of mirrors from my perspective. I can't even tell what I've actually written and what just has my name on it sometimes. I feel like Orson Welles in "The Lady From Shangai".
Then I wonder: are the bearers of the status quo successfully fucking with us?
Not on my watch.
Special City Council meeting next week, along with a JRMB meeting IIRC. The agendas were to be posted today. Must go read...
My new year's resolution is to do less of this anyway. So while the door is hitting my butt on the way out, I do wish Paul-doh that you would lay off the anti-semitic stuff.
You're better than that.
Or not....

"Dunc, it is a hall of mirrors from my perspective. I can't even tell what I've actually written and what just has my name on it sometimes."
===
At least the real Bruce Pussy (Original, not the new, faux SP) can handle the hall of mirrors without cracking. And he can also handle all of the retorts, with only minimal crackage. I am still laughing whenever I think about Dunc's most excellent sick days going online-postal against multiple busters on how Obama was a good liberal, and not a faux liberal, neo-Bush 3rd term. Opps on that one!
But Dunc can't handle the multiple mirrors. He needs to feel like he argues with a single person, or at most 2 or 3 people, instead of just making an argument with anybody's facts, data, or opinions.
Who cares if it's buster or butter? BP or SP? Timtim or QuimQuim?
Argue your opinions or your facts. And then just pretend you be Ray Charles or Stevie Wonder... they can't tell you they are yapping at.
NB: Bruce, if you really can't tell between what you yourself write and what the other bruces write, then maybe you need to be more honest with yourself or with us, or both. The only time I can't remember what I think, is when I am telling so many lies I can't remember them all.

No problemo.
It's SINFULLY FUN peoples.
But as you should know, the rats don't come out till (at the earliest) April.
But Bruce. Why be a patsy? Why do you let them misrepresent your views, until everything you say is meaningless?
What a waste of time.
I'll stand by what I say, but not what someone else says I said. Or what I said, that someone said, that I said, what I said.
What's the fucking point?
It's all babble, here.
>> Sage rats be sleepin right now, but call me in the spring.
Yup.
Duncan's right.
Fuck, no he's not.
Who cares.
This blog is just the outward manifestation of Bend's disease. Ignore it at your peril.
>> What's the fucking point?
Dunc, it's simply entertainment. Rationality exists beyond here for the most part. Check out blogs like BMWJAMAGEH if that's your thing. Take this for what it is, a pissing rock with some Busters and other "characters" running around screaming at the wind.
Have a beer and ENJOY!
If this were a horror film, all the multiple busters would come to life. Right in your room as you read the blog.
>> What a waste of time.
Yes sirree....that it is.
I suppose we all have our true reasons for coming here about 20 freakin' times a day. I've learned a shitload over the last two years or so, about myself, people, greed, buttplugs, grifters, etc. Pretty funny stuff too.
April it is..My .22 has no scope so if we bet, all must use no scope. I can only hit one at 50 yards without the scope. Too bad ya can't eat the buggers. Last year in Dayville we shot 50 or 60 of them in an hour..There are now people that call ranchers over there and pay the rancher to shoot the lil fuckers.
>> There are now people that call ranchers over there and pay the rancher to shoot the lil fuckers.
Never, that's why I hunt Chukars too, don't have to pay someone to hunt public lands. Pheasants, get your wallet out!
My wife has the record for longest confirmed kill on a rat that we know of w/ .22 Long Rifle (scoped). 175 yds rangefinder verified. Can you say ARTILLERY? I was watching through the binos and literally talking her on target at that range.
Now that I have kiddos, I feel pretty freakin' guilty going out and wasting about 200 of those things a day. Tough to truthfully explain to Jr. why we're blasting these things ya know.
I have to say, thankfully, my bloodlust and libido goes down every year I age. THANK GOD! Both of these things can get one in a LOT of trouble.
" I've learned a shitload over the last two years or so, about myself, people, greed, buttplugs, grifters, etc. Pretty funny stuff too."

Too True. Too True.
And almost all regulars know the real Pussy from the fauxs. So he ain't mis-represented to me, only ignorant Dunc's.
And buster is never Buster. Nor is he the faux busters either, since I know (takes a faux to know a fo).
Learn here. Laugh here.
Fuck all of you damn Repugs!!!

Listen UP FUCKHEAD's BEND has GIVEN PONZI a BAD NAME ... Who would have guessed???
Quest for easy money magnified Oregon real estate collapse
by Jeff Manning, The Oregonian
Thursday January 01, 2009, 9:51 PM
Olivia Bucks/The OregonianJay and Becky Mutschler of Corvallis were in a group of about 40 people who invested $6 million in Willamette Development Services. The company failed to finish any of its 11 projects, including the Lenore Estates in Eugene, a development with 27 lots and partly built houses that have sat untouched long enough to start to weather, prompting Jay Mutschler to ask, "Was it a Ponzi scheme?"
The same real estate boom and bust that delivered a devastating body blow to the U.S. economy also brought an enormous wave of failed and allegedly fraudulent investment schemes.
There are plenty of reasons besides fraud and bad faith that real estate deals failed in recent months. Falling prices and lenders' wholesale retreat from the market killed countless legitimate transactions. Unscrupulous opportunists only made matters worse.
Veteran white-collar investigators and prosecutors say they haven't seen this many similar questionable acts since the savings and loan scandal of the 1980s. Now, law enforcement and the courts are trying to clean up the mess while victims pay for their costly mistakes.
From Portland to Albany to Bend and beyond, Oregonians hoping to cash in on the boom have instead suffered major financial setbacks in real estate deals gone awry.
There was the disabled veteran and his wife in Linn County who borrowed on their credit cards to put $50,000 into a failed Willamette Valley land deal. There was the single mother in Bend whose builder/developer ran out of money, leaving her and about 40 others with uncompleted homes and thousands of dollars in debt owed to banks and unpaid subcontractors. No criminal charges have been filed in either of the schemes.
Today's wave of dubious deals is more pervasive and grass-roots in nature than the S&L debacle, which primarily involved thrift executives and their borrowers. Developers, mortgage brokers, appraisers, bankers and borrowers alike are under the microscope of state securities regulators and federal prosecutors.
"We've always had people fudging the numbers on their loan application to buy the home they wanted to live in," said Joe Boyer, supervisory special agent for the FBI in Portland. "During the boom, we had people trying to do 50 homes. It was all about the real estate appreciation."
Boyer is a key member of a mortgage fraud working group in Portland formed among local, state and federal investigators to combat real estate and mortgage fraud.
A key factor behind the boom and its frightening aftermath is the pervasive human desire to make easy money. This decade's real estate debacle started to form just months after the collapse of an earlier investment bubble.
The 2001 collapse of the dot-com Internet companies cost the economy an estimated $5 trillion. Countless starry-eyed investors came to rue the day they bet their hard-earned cash on the latest dot-com pet retailer or online grocer.
Two years later, Internet stock promoters were supplanted by another generation of boosters who said real estate was the new can't-miss opportunity. They were enabled by a lending industry that lost its bearings and started making loans to unqualified buyers and ignoring signs of rampant duplicity.
Mortgage fraud emerged as the trademark crime of the boom. Unscrupulous brokers worked through straw buyers to obtain bank loans, pocketing thousands of dollars for themselves from the loan proceeds while the "buyer" often never made a single payment.
But the ever-rising tide of escalating real estate prices hid the problem.
"The underlying premise was that real estate values would always go up," said Karin Immergut, U.S. attorney in Portland. "If they got into trouble, they could always sell it. If the bank had to repossess it, they could put it on the market and make money.
"Now, we're seeing the whole house of cards crumble."
Indeed, just like New York financier Bernard Madoff's alleged $50 billion Ponzi scheme, the real estate bubble has popped. Individual investors, some of whom went into hock to grab a piece of the real estate gold, now face foreclosure and financial ruin.
The feds were well aware of the mortgage industry issues before the house fell down.
Chris Swecker, former assistant director of the FBI in Washington, D.C., warned in the boom year 2004 of widespread fraud in the industry. Swecker, now retired, predicted bogus home loans could cause multibillion-dollar losses to financial institutions.
Swecker's prescient warnings were wrong in only aspect: He vastly underestimated the losses and the impact on the broader economy.
But the feds didn't intervene in a more forceful way in part because much of the FBI's resources were diverted to combat terrorism. Besides, rising real estate prices kept losses to a relatively low level -- at least until 2006 and 2007.
Federal sentencing guidelines are based on provable financial losses. Absent a large tangible loss, perpetrators are unlikely to get much of a sentence beyond probation, which gave prosecutors little motive to push mortgage or real estate cases.
Even the most bogus mortgage deal didn't lose much money as long as homes continued to appreciate in value -- which they did in Oregon until mid-2007.
Now, only time and the courts will determine whether the cases addressed here are bad luck, bad faith, or worse.

Big plan 'all made sense ... but it was all a lie'
Albany-based Willamette Development Services started small in 2006, but with a big idea: building homes and small commercial projects the length of the Willamette Valley.
With few resources of its own, the company used other people's money, raising $6 million from about 40 investors. In 2006, at the height of Oregon's land rush, dozens of people jumped at the opportunity. Some said they took out second mortgages on their homes or borrowed on their credit cards to come up with the $25,000 minimum investment.
The company's pedigree was modest. No history, no track record of success. It was the brainchild of Joe LaCoste, a former Oregon State University running back who left his high school teaching job in 1996 to enter the mortgage and real estate business.
He formed several companies, some of which earned the attention of state securities regulators. In one example of problems, regulators in 2006 entered a cease and desist order against one of those companies, Lunceford & LaCoste, for brokering mortgages without a license.
But with Willamette Development Services, LaCoste and the rest of his management team were convincing. Investors said they ere promised 13 percent interest annually.
"It all made sense," said Rebecca Lu, a Corvallis real estate agent who invested $200,000 herself and persuaded her elderly parents to invest $25,000. "They hired architects and engineers. But it was all a lie."
The company started 11 projects, including a residential subdivision in Santa Clara, near Eugene, and a minimart in McMinnville. It failed to complete even one.
"Our homes weren't getting built, we were spending too much money," LaCoste said. "I wasn't quite sure why all this was happening."
Investors stopped getting interest payments in November 2007.
LaCoste's partners, led by his brother-in-law, Medford mortgage broker Craig Sweet, ousted him in January 2008. The company became inactive within a few months.
LaCoste blames Sweet and others in his management team, who he said failed to perform. Sweet declined to comment.
Investors have filed two lawsuits against the company, LaCoste and other partners. They claim the company lied to investors and used their money to pay off other investors -- the classic definition of a Ponzi scheme.
Several investors told The Oregonian they had been interviewed by the FBI. LaCoste says he has not talked to anyone at the FBI, and no criminal charges have been filed. LaCoste said he's been made the fall guy for the failures of other partners and the downturn of the market.
"We were in a real tough real estate market," he said. "We were doing the wrong thing at the wrong time. So were about 10 million other developers around the country."
"They couldn't build a single home in 18 months," said Jay Mutschler of Corvallis, who lost his $50,000 investment. "WDS was so mismanaged, it's ridiculous. The question is: Was Joe just so inept that he couldn't manage it right, or was it a Ponzi scheme?"
LaCoste and his wife have formed a new consulting company, Witham Investments, which he said helps other real estate developers through financing and operational challenges. "Our company puts honesty, integrity and compassionate capitalism above all other business priorities," Witham's Web site says.

Glad to see everyone so passionate. Hell yes I love dirt-bikes, loved to ride the badlands, hell us dirt-bike riders back in the 1960's are the fuckers who made the single-tracks that people ride mtn-bikes today. I'm not sure we'll get the shit back, history shows that once Forest-Service or BLM close something it stays closed.
Sure you can get a 50 Caliber Barett and shoot grouse, but why?
The smoking ban is more interesting, as places die, I wouldn't be surprised to see people relax and let the coffin-nails return, ... it's not really in the governments interest to see their lottery machine die. If they want people to stay home and drink and beat their wives, they're on the right track.
Just ramblin I know, but it seems that everyone is ramblin now.
DREAMERS GET FUCKED IN THE ASS BY AIPAC GENDARMES IN CENTRAL ORYGUN.. WHO WOULD HAVE GUESSED?????
Dreamers wake up to big losses in central Oregon
Joanie Krehbiel wanted in on the real estate action.
The Bend woman, a single mother of a toddler, knew she needed another business to complement her seasonal bicycle rental operation. Central Oregon's real estate boom offered an opportunity, she figured.
In 2006, Krehbiel hooked up with Don Loyd, a longtime central Oregon developer who said he liked teaching amateurs how to prosper at the real estate game. The deal was simple: Loyd's investors would contribute $5,000 of their own money and obtain a construction loan to cover the cost of building a house. Loyd's company, Aspen Tree Homes, would serve as general contractor.
Loyd's investor could then move in to the completed house, sell it or rent it out. "Don was the ringleader, the Pied Piper," Krehbiel said. "We were supposed to make $20,000 to $40,000 per home."
So confident was Krehbiel, and so hot was the market, she signed up to do two deals with Loyd and got 11 friends and family members involved in Loyd projects.
In all, Loyd estimates, he built homes for 100 people, launching projects from Crook to Klamath counties. For some of those investors, the dreams of real estate riches failed to pan out. Loyd admits that he walked away from about 40 projects when he ran out of money.
Today, some of Loyd's investors owe thousands of dollars on bank loans but have only partly built homes or bare lots to show for it. Many have lost their good credit after missing payments. They face thousands of dollars in construction liens filed by subcontractors who weren't able to get their money from Loyd.
Four participants in Loyd's plan have sued him, his son Kevin Loyd and Aspen Tree Homes. They also sued West Coast Bank, the Lake Oswego lender that funded many of their loans. They claim West Coast gave Loyd access to the borrowers' construction loan proceeds without proper authorization from the borrowers.
A lawyer for West Coast declined to comment.
This marks the second time West Coast Bank has been caught up in a questionable homebuilding deal in central Oregon. West Coast also funded several mortgages to former employees of Desert Sun Development, another failed real estate firm that allegedly falsified employees' loan applications and accessed their loan proceeds without authorization.
Loyd says he's done nothing wrong, adding that he's a victim himself of the real estate crash. He blames his problems on West Coast Bank for not advancing him construction loan proceeds in a timely manner. He says he spent $300,000 of his own money to pay subcontractors after West Coast Bank refused to release loan proceeds.
"I am not a rip-off artist," Loyd said. "I worked in Bend for 35 years. I had a good reputation. One major burp in the economy and that reputation is gone."
One piece of Loyd's investment operation illustrates on a micro-level how the prevalence of investors hoping for a quick profit skewed the real estate market.
Twelve of Loyd's projects were in the tiny town of Chiloquin, which is between Bend and Klamath Falls and one of the poorest communities in Oregon.
In the best of times, it would have been difficult for Chiloquin to absorb the Loyd homes, which were expensive by local standards. But similar to one-time boomtowns like Las Vegas and Sacramento, the presence of so many real estate flippers looking for a hefty profit worsened the real estate bust when it finally came.
"It's the nicest subdivision in Chiloquin," said Terry Nash, a Klamath Falls Realtor who listed the Loyd homes. "We started at $289,000 and got down to $220,000. I've had one offer, a very low offer."
Federal and state investigators are looking into Aspen Tree Homes, alerted to the case by Darren Goodding, a Lake Oswego private investigator hired by one of the participants.
Krehbiel said she is trying to hang on financially. She figures she's spent $50,000, most of it from a $40,000 equity line of credit on her own home, trying to salvage her investment with Loyd, whom she wants held accountable.
"He needs to never do this to anyone again," she said. "And he needs to be punished."

Vegas deal slams even Oregon's big players
It wasn't just real estate amateurs who got burned in the crash.
A disastrous Las Vegas condo conversion launched by Portland developer Terry Bean resulted in claims of fraud and securities law violations by his investors, who read like a who's who of Portland power brokers.
In 2006 and 2007, Bean raised $7.3 million for his company, Orchid Investors LLC. Among the investors were companies and trusts affiliated with Frank Dulcich, head of Pacific Seafoods, the nation's largest seafood processor; Robert Philip, head of Schnitzer Investments, a business arm of the wealthy Schnitzer family; Gerry Bidwell, a prominent former Portland stockbroker; and Richard Akerman, a Lake Oswego businessman and member of the Lake Oswego school board.
Orchid proposed to buy a 280-unit apartment complex, renovate it, and sell the units as condos. Bean made his name with dozens of similar projects in Portland.
Though the displaced renters disliked the process, the goal was to generate fat profits for Bean and his backers. But he made the ill-fated decision to go ahead with the Orchid project just as Sin City's once red-hot market cratered into one of the worst sinkholes of mortgage defaults and foreclosures in the nation.
Orchid defaulted in February 2008 on a $27 million loan from Bank of America. That same month, two of Bean's investors in Orchid, Dulcich and Akerman, sued Bean and David Gifford, Bean's partner in the deal.
They claim that in a 2005 appraisal of the property, Bean withheld crucial information about falling home prices and rising inventories of unsold homes in the neighborhood. They also allege Bean failed to disclose that he tried to buy the same apartment complex for $19.2 million in October 2004. Less than a year later, Bean's company bought the property for more than $35 million.
"I think any reasonable investor would want to know that the property had doubled in price," said Mike Esler, a Portland attorney representing Dulcich and Akerman.
Dulcich and Akerman are seeking repayment of the $2 million and $1.1 million, respectively, they invested.
John Parsons, Bean's lawyer, said Orchid was killed by the "demise of the national real estate market."
"The irony is that most of Terry's business partners have made millions of dollars over the years," Parsons said. "This project goes bad, and all of a sudden it's about an alleged failure to disclose rather than the reality of the national economy."
Since the lawsuit was filed in February, the Orchid drama has gotten more tangled.
Bank of America sued Orchid in April, demanding immediate repayment of the $27 million. Bean had personally guaranteed more than $20 million of the debt.
The bank ultimately settled with Bean, repossessing the property and forcing him to repay about $3.5 million in cash.
Bean has filed a counterclaim against Dulcich and Akerman, accusing them of reneging on their obligation to help Bean pay off the bank. Bean sued Philip on the same grounds.
"The bottom line is, it was a partnership," Bean said. "We signed personal guarantees. I was the only one who stepped up to the plate."

Sheet we wrote a book on just how to fucking insert a capstone butt-plug up the anus.
People just don't realize the service. John Titor is said to be coming back to Bend to pick our brains, cuz it turns out that cap-stone butt plugs really can allow everyone to be plugged into the grid. The future bubble is buttplug-energy, and nobody can prove first use, so they come back to Bend 2006 to find the first person to document and patent the technology.

###
I know. I should just crawl under my rock and hide.
But I can't.
I do wish Paul-doh that you would lay off the anti-semitic stuff.
I assume you're ALL FOR what Israel is doing in Gaza? Right?
Ya have to be. Or
ANTI-SEMITE!
Anti-Semite = Criminal. Why?
I'm just saying, Jews are The New Nazi's, take it for what you will.
See, with lib's:
Anti Jew = Anti-Semite = Criminal
Anti-Black = Racisim = Criminal
What about Anti-Australian?
No lib label yet. And being lib is about SELF LOATHING, and Aussie's are WHITE, so nothing wrong with hating other whites.
You'll SOMEDAY realize I'm NOT an anti-semite. netiher an I racist. look in the mirror.
If you can't say or think "nigger" or "fucking Jews" then YOU are the racist. I know, you'll NEVER get it. But you base all on race, and don't hold these people in enough esteem to realize that a WHITE NON-LIBERAL calling some non-white a TERRIBLE NAME, isn't the end of the World. It is for you, cuz you consider blacks = infants. I do not. I have enough respect for blacks or anyone else for that matter, to KNOW that they can hear some sort of race-based slur from some INSIGNIFICANT white dumbfuck, and they should NOT give a fuck.
Jesse Jackson tells them they should be CRUSHED. That's where we disagree.
WAKE UP WHITE PEEPUL.
And frankly, not a single person living in Cent OR for the past 20 years even has a CLUE what racisim really is.
This fucking place is WHITE FLIGHT CENTRAL. This is the WHITEST place in the known universe.
Even I am starting to take on some sort of idealized view of RACE, having been away from BLACKS-HATING-WHITES for so long... I know, if you're in Cent OR, you only know racism from TV, but actually it does flow from BALCKS TO WHITES. A lot. A hell of a lot.
Jews HATE EVERYONE. They don't give a fuck WHO YOU ARE.
But WHITE LIB'S in Cent OR can only scream ANTI-SEMITE.
Although I KNOW there is CONFLICT WITHIN. Can't help seeing the ISRAELI PROTESTS about them bombing Gaza into the stone age, without wanting to sidle up to ULTRA-LIB EUROPE.
That's what's so awful about being LIB: Self-hating, all based on race, but you don't know what to do when your mentally incompetent charges (BLACKS) ROB YOUR WHITE ASS.
"Wait! I'm a self-loathing LIB! We're BROTHERS! I've stuck up for YOU PEOPLE! I'm all for THE BLACK MAN! Well, mostly. I don't think I like the wife-beating. And could you be a father to all the illegitimate kids you father? And lay off the drugs. And robbing people... like right now, it's hard to be sympathetic, cuz you're robbing me, and about to shoot my wife. Can't we just get along."
And both get shot, to shut the LIB up.
Lib's are so clueless it simply boggles the mind. Very simple life: You're either LIB or you're not, and if NOT you are a RACIST. Or Anti-Semite. Or whatever it is that will make them feel better about themselves.
I'm an asshole & I KNOW IT.
KNOW THYSELF.
Hey LIB'S:
Why is it Jews will NOT MARRY non-Jews?
Why? What's that called?
Oh right, RACISM.
Fucking Cent OR LIB'S are about the stupidest fuckers on Earth. Live in this little globe of WHITENESS, but by God, they are experts on RACE.
OK, here's a short primer: Blacks & Jews are THE MOST RACIST PEOPLE ON EARTH. I know, I've lived shoulder to shoulder.
And what's FUNNY AS HELL, is any Big City Jew or Black WILL READILY ADMIT IT! They'll ADMIT they are racist. Motherfuckers don't even understand what being NON-RACIST is.
And any Big City Black doesn't even know what to think about a LIB: Lib talks a good game, but a Lib would never, EVER have a black into their house. Lib DIVERSITY only exists in ONE PLACE: In a LIB'S MIND.
I have lots off LIB friends... VERY FEW have ever had a black into their house.
Any of you Cent OR LIB'S EVER have a black SPEND THE NIGHT? No.
RePug's are RACIST. But LIB'S are HYPOCRITICAL RACISTS.
LIB MENTALITY can best be characterized by BLAGOJEVICH: FUCKING CLUELESS about what the fuck is going on around them, 100% OBLIVIOUS to rational criticism, thinks they are motherfucking RIGHT NO MATTER WHAT, and by God THEY GONNA TAKE DOWN A BLACK GUY WHILE THEY AT IT.
Stupid fucking LIB'S. And of course, they could NEVER answer such criticism... they just yell RACIST. ANTI-SEMITE.
"Hey that guy is listening to Rush... RACIST! See that McPain sign in that yard.... ANTI_SEMITE! See that black guy guy robbing that Jew... Ummm.. hmmmm... uhhhhh. Let's go have a latte over in that ALL WHITE CAFE."
Butter, obviously it's the sweeping statements that irritate people. Yes, I've lived with blacks and Jewish people back east. Yes, there are cultural differences. But individual differences regularly trump groups similarities.
SOME Jews do marry outside the faith.
You gotta talk about the actions of individuals (or countries). It's not like all black people are the same. They aren't. It's not like all Jews are the same. They aren't.
And yes I agree with you that Oregon is flat-out the most racist place I've lived. It's full of whites who think they are tolerant because they don't have to deal with a group of a dozen black teenagers willfully blocking you in your car because you are white.
I've started a list on Best Minimum Wage Job a Middle Aged Guy Ever Had of stores opening and closing since around the beginning of December.
If you can think of any I haven't mentioned, let me know.
You're right tim, I know. But note:
Is this one of "the sweeping statements that irritate people. "?
deal with a group of a dozen black teenagers willfully blocking you in your car because you are white.
See, it DOES happen. People are RACIST as HELL... all the time.
We're all low-grade racists. But being told I'm an ANTI-SEMITE by some cloistered WHITE FLIGHT Cent OR lib, just burns my Butter.
A few things about me:
I give everyone the benefit of the doubt. Or at least I try.
I DO know enough not to run open-armed into a group of thuggish blacks in Cabrini Green. For THAT lib's label me racist. Hypocritical fuckers.
I don't feel saying "Nigger" or other such shit, "damages" the black race. For Chrissake, give them some credit. Racial epithets are aimed at Whites, Asians, Jews, blacks, etc from all corners & letting it "hurt" you is indicative of a mental problem, not a racial one.
I'm NOT ashamed to be WHITE. That's just idiotic. Nobody should be ashamed to be what they are. Ridiculous.
See, your reference to a "dozen black teenagers" is just a indication of self-preservation, that's all. You want to live, you recognize a potentially harmful situation BASED ON RACE, and you avoid it. Call it what you want, but it's decision-making based on RACE... ie RACISM. We ALL DO IT. You just did.
Hypocritical LIB'S would have OTHER WHITE'S run headlong into such a situation... not them, others. Do it or be branded RACIST.
I want to OVERCOME the RACE DIVIDE more than anyone.. but I feel THE WORST PEOPLE FOR THE JOB ARE WHITE LIB'S AND BLACK LEADERS LIKE J JACKSON. These are the most virulently racist human beings alive.
Tim, & Homee,
I think I quoted before, but I simply love this quote. About ten+ years ago in PDX they hired a 'black police chief', and after a while he QUIT.
When leaving he said that PDX(ORYGUN) was the most racist place he had ever been, and was going back to Montgomery. He said that in the South a white-man would tell you to your face that you were a nigger, ... but in ORYGUN everyone would just smile and act your friend. That in his 6+ year in PDX with a PHD and married to a white-woman he had never been invited once into a white-home.
He said that he felt much more comfortable in the south where white-men would speak their mind, and he respected people for their honesty. That all oryGorgolians were hypocrites.
His name was Charles Moose, he went on to be a police-chief back east and wrote a book about the two-blacks that were shooting FBI people from the trunk of their car.
The anti-semite is a fucking BULLSHIT mainly propagated by self-hating liberals shit-eaters.
In fact a 'semite' is anyone of middle-east ancestry, thus for Israeli's to be butchering Palestinians is "ANTI-SEMITISM".
FUCK-HEADS like dunc seem to think that "SEMITE" means JEW.
The whole fucking anti-semite mind-control biz started by ADL ( anti-defamation-league ) in the 1920's by Walter Annenberg one of the richest Jewish Gangsters in the USA. It's just mind-control.
I think that is why people like me & homer react so much in the Pavlovian sense to the 'anti-semitic' bullshit. When anybody does stupid shit we call them on it.
But when Made-Off hustled over $15B ( the $50B never existed except on paper ), anybody that called Made-Off a crook was immediately labeled anti-semitic.
It's way behind HATING JEWS, I don't HATE JEWS I hate what jews do.
I hate to see Jews stealing palestianian land and killing them, but if you disagree with Jewish behavior its anti-semitic.
This is complete BULLSHIT, but the BPUSSY believes this, this if you hate a perons actions then you hate him, no not true, we tell them they're being an asshole, and to stop the bad behavior.
In summary we love Jews, shit when I was a kid 18-22 some of my favorite hot to trot babes were always jewish girls huge fucking tits and fuck monsters.
What we hate is what Jews have done the world.
Just like I hate what the USA has done to the world.
The ADL would like to make every dumb fucking liberal think that ALL Jews are gods chosen people, and ERGO a Jew can do no wrong. Bull fucking SHIT, Made-OFF and Gaza are perfect examples that the DEVIL is a Jew.
Redemption is always available, but until then when a Jew does stupid shit, they're going to hear about it, if your only intellectual argument is that we're being 'anti-semitic', all I can say is that your a Ned 'Jew' Flanders fucking pathetic idiot.
"“I had a very long and prosperous career before I came to Bend, and I’ll do what’s best for me and my family. It will definitely be outside of the state of Oregon.” -- Jody Denton
"He's telling us something."
LOL! He certainly is.
Oregon is the West Virginia of the West Coast. In both states the economy was based on resource extraction (coal in one case, timber in the other) and in both cases the resource has been exhausted. Neither state bothered to invest adequately in educating its citizens or developing other industries, so now they're fucked. Their best and brightest young people go elsewhere for education and career opportunities, leaving the worst and dumbest.
Yeah, we've got nice scenery and a "lifestyle," but you can't eat either one.
Oh geez... why do I do this! DAMMIT! I hate talking about race. 100% futile.
OK, New Years Resolution: I will NOT be drawn into RACE DEBATES by CLUELESS LIB'S!
Or anyone else for that matter.
I wasn't being racist. I was relating an actual situation where people were racist against me. My point is in places where there are lots of blacks and whites dealing with each other, some of them fuck with you (and it's usually in groups).
When the kids lets black people drive through and blocked me, I rolled down my window and said, "come on guys!" They ignored me for just long enough, and then barely made enough room to let me through. It was obvious and deliberate.
My point is that it's meaningless for people who live in a sea of white to even talk about racism. It's like virgins talking about sex.
But I still say that every individual should be treated as an individual. You saying "Jews do this. Jews don't do that" is ridiculous. It's different than me saying, "a group of black teens fucked with me because I was white once when I was trying to leave a parking lot."
Groups or gangs are different. I don't trust any group of teens, black or white. They have too much to prove.
All I said was, Lay off the anti-semite and racist stuff.
I always call that when I see it. I couldn't keep coming here if I didn't call it it here.
Normally, I hate passive/aggressive comments like this, but really, Paul-doh.
Whatever.
Seems more like your problem than mine.
Why is it Jews will NOT MARRY non-Jews?
That's bullshit.
"Since 1985, 52% of Jews who married have done so outside the faith."
"1 million, or 54% of all American Jewish children under the age of 18 are being raised as non-Jews or with no religion."
Source: http://www.simpletoremember.com/vitals/intermarriage-statistics.htm
52 percent. That is a MAJORITY, asshole.

Ned,
I wish we could just let the 'anti-semitic' thing go, but you really are the one that brings it up.
Made-Off, your going to hear that name, and if you think its a Freudian Jew Bash, that's your fucking SELF hatred of Jews.
Israeli's bastards of the Universe that only exist to steal real-estate from Palestians will continue until every last Palestinian is exterminated, if you think we're going to remain silent, Your a fucking idiot.
We got rid of BUSH by talking until everyone realized that all PUG's were fucking Jerry's-Kid's in Suits.
Its the same for ISRAEL we must continue talking until the WHOLE world realizes that ISRAEL is the most evil fucking mob running a government in world history.
If you go back to the history of Israel, it was started by criminals. The British had NOTHING to do with them, in the USA our Jewish criminals went their to start their own government. They recognized early that they were going to lose Cuba. Today everything that ISRAEL does is no surprise to anyone because the government has always been ran by the Jewish Mob. Sure there are a few liberals there, but they're a minority.
I have been to Israel, and their military and cops are trained to be the meanest mother fuckers on earth.
Re:
Well HBM shit-eater, did you rhetorical ASK the RNC to give the ALL the stolen 1031 money they got from S-1031 to the BK widows fund? Or are you afraid to put your SORE where your heart is??

hb, that was fake bruce...
But the Buff Trudy retort was rich.
WV is the most beautiful state I've ever driven through, bar none.
Really? Been to UT or Nevada?
I think NV is the most underrated state. No one goes 10 miles outside Vegas, but NV has a stark beauty to it. Drive Salt Lake to Reno... it's really a unique drive. Or even Vegas to St George UT. I would love to see SE Oregon someday... too chickenshit I suppose... get caught in Burns Junction & never get out.
Yarg... I don't know anywhere back East that holds a candle to anything West of the Rockies. Personal preference I guess. Although I'd like to see New Hamp. And more of Northern Maine.
Butter, just change one word and your rants are right in:
It's Zionist, not Jew. There are plenty of Jews who are pissed at what Israel is doing, too. It's the Zionists, especially those the lean towards the Likud, that are cheering on the killing and enslavement of Palestinians. And the fucking settlers are the worst of them. Especially those that use the close-in settlements as bedroom communities because of the government goodies they get for living there.
The frustrating thing is it isn't going to end anytime soon because AIPAC owns both Rep and Dem here. And they are already courting China for when we go down.

Warning. If you stop to get gas in WV, you will not understand what the hell the guy who works at the gas station is saying.
WV is the most beautiful state I've ever driven through,
And I forgot the obvious winner: Alaska.
Dude, you ain't seen shit till you've DRIVEN OR to Alaska. Tok, Fairbanks, Anchorage, Kenai, Valdez... that place is unbelievable.
HBM,
Your a Jew right? I know Switzer is.
You say your not a Jew cuz you don't wear a Yarlmuke in your head, but you do on your dick, so what's the diff?
Like above, I dated Jewish girls all through college, I would have married any of them, they were fuck monsters and fun, but it always ended the same. I would visit their parents and within a couple months they would break up. It was always the same they would say "My parents say were getting TOO SERIOUS".
Homer is right. Jews generally don't want their mothers don't want their mother's marrying non-jews.
Jew boyz of course can marry anyone, cuz that JEW-SEED makes little Jews, ... just more fucking bullshit.
Then blacks, I too like HOMER grew up in ALL BLACK, I went to an ALL black high-school as a kid in East-LA. Black MAMA had a saying "Break a mothers heart, if here boyz married a white", It wasn't even OK, for blacks to fuck white women. God forbid if a white-guy fucked a black-woman, I mean you didn't do that shit.
It was OK, for a black guy to fuck a white, you just didn't let MAMA find out.
We are all a sum of our life experiences.
I can fuck anyone of any color, my only criteria has ever been is that its smells and looks like pussy. I don't look for a yarmulke or funny underwear.
But my experiences are like HOMER Blacks & Jews are very careful about fucking their purity.
I have many Jewish 'male' friends married to non-jew women, but in NO fucking instance do I know a Jewish girl married to a non-jewish male.
Of course today you see many black men with white women ( sports ), and you see white men with black women ( luck devils ).
We are a sum of our life experiences.
OK. I've not driven through Alaska. I should try that.
Warning. If you stop to get gas in WV, you will not understand what the hell the guy who works at the gas station is saying.
That's why I bring my Deliverance-to-English disctionary. Burt Reynolds Approved!

Your [sic] a Jew right?
That would sure come as a surprise to my Catholic mother and Baptist father.

Wrong again, dickwad.

Butter, take a drive from here to Winnemuca through Paisley. Past Summer Lake and the huge escarpment of Abert Rim. Beautiful country in the middle of fucking nowhere. Stopping and having a cup at the Paisley General Store is a trip, too. The locals are classic. And there is even a little one-lift ski area in Warner Canyon.
The scenic route to Salt Lake. Nice drive when you have the time.
CACB loses Calculator & Batterys.
Convenient of them to correct it in the holidays. Bury it.
If they had announced this in the summer and fall, they would have crashed, I'll bet.
Really, really convenient.
This kind of dishonesty is a huge red flag.
Like above, I dated Jewish girls all through college, I would have married any of them, they were fuck monsters and fun, but it always ended the same. I would visit their parents and within a couple months they would break up. It was always the same they would say "My parents say were [sic] getting TOO SERIOUS".
It didn't have anything to do with religion -- the parents saw you were a moronic shithead.
But judging by the illiteracy of your posts I doubt you ever went to college.

Yes, it's incredibly beautiful. One of my favorite drives in Oregon. Real estate's incredibly cheap too, if you don't mind living "in the middle of fucking nowhere."
Yeah, look when CACB released the news.

That's buried about as well as they can hope to bury it. Friday well after markets are closed after a holiday.
>>Jew boyz of course can marry anyone, cuz that JEW-SEED makes little Jews, ... just more fucking bullshit.
I think you have it backward. You're Jewish if your mother is Jewish, not if your father is Jewish.
*
Tim,
You have to understand. That I didn't even know these girls were Jewish until they took me home to "meet the parents", I didn't even know what a Jew was. I still don't. Like HBM says most Jews are not practicing Jews, they may have Jewish blood, but I think according to HBM they have to wear a Yarlmuke or be an explicit Orthodox.
I have NO fucking idea of what a Jew is, except for the bias of looking at the last name. But what I do know as a kid is that Jewish mothers didn't want you marrying their daughters, but it was OK, for a Jew boy to marry non-jews, and I thought that was hypocrisy.
Now WRT to your assertion that only a Jewish Womb made Jews, then why would the mothers care? Most likely like the blacks? Most likely a Jewish mother would want more Jewish Son's, and ... thus would mandate a Jewish son-in-law, so you could be even more complete, fuck I have no idea.
During high-school I dated a lot of MORMORN girls, and they took me to church, and the every night events, hell the familys were great, the MORMRONS see every male-child a future MORMRON.
But Jews, so fucking secret. Why the mistrust? Why stop a relationship just because a guy ain't jewish? Why the secrecy? Why the paranoia?
The mormons were always more than glad to explain everything, but even the jewish girls wouldn't talk about anything, ...
"I think you have it backward. You're Jewish if your mother is Jewish, not if your father is Jewish." - apu
Isn't that the current Israel law? Or that your grandfather was Jewish? Or that you name is Miller, but you wear a Yarlmuke on your dick on saturday? It's so fucking complicated.
[ Sorry NED, you started it, and the thread is out of sync, and I really need to get these questions out of my mind. ]

What a load of fucking shit.
MISCALCULATION in the software? Really? Did an UPGRADE solve the problem? How did you find it MossCo?
BULLSHIT. They fucking LIED. I stated such when they posted net income by the skin of their teeth. Managed Net Income = BULLSHIT, and CACB managed the hell outta their Net.
Holy Shit, people will BAIL on this sort of pathetic revelation.
"Says earnings for nine months ended September 30, 2008 fell to $3.0 million from previous $6.8 million; bank continues to rank as 'well-capitalized' under regulatory standards."
OK. So that's the left show dropping. Look out for the right shoe.
Tolerance. Trying to Live It, not just Talk.
"The only thing I'm intolerant of is intolerance." -- Clarence Darrow
I don't believe practicing "tolerance" requires providing a forum for the expression of crudely racist, ignorant opinions. People who hold such opinions have a right to have them and express them, but you're not obliged to give space to them -- anymore than you'd be obliged to let them put anti-Semitic signs in your front yard or on your business.
I really think allowing this crap lowers the tone of discourse here, and it might lead some people to believe you tacitly approve those views.
It didn't have anything to do with religion -- the parents saw you were a moronic shithead.

I knew that you were going to say that HBM.
But it was a pattern, ... so I'll put my take, all these girls were serious, and I seriously liked them, and their mothers seriously thought that ALL non-jew boyz were shit-heads.
"...bank continues to rank as 'well-capitalized' under regulatory standards."
Yeah, because we all know how well the regulations been going.
They're throwing out everything they got in the hot air balloon and hoping they don't crash into the mountainside.
I think they're doomed.

I loved that statement, lets remind ALL the KUNTS here that under twisted-little-shrub ( thats bush if you have a peanut brain like HBM ), that 'W' dropped the regulatory capitialization standards to almost zero. >>$229K? We might be finally going off the cliff in pricing
Not yet. That number just means the upper end has gone completely frozen. Who is buying $600k houses? NO ONE!
Prices won't really come down hard until the banks cry uncle. And that will take some time, because they can't just unload all that stuff at what it would take to unload it without going broke.
It's going to be damned scary. Like waiting for the laser to hit your crotch. "Do you expect me to talk, Goldfinger?"
I really think allowing this crap lowers the tone of discourse here, and it might lead some people to believe you tacitly approve those views.
Acknowledging Jews as Human Beings lowered the "tone of discourse" in Nazi Germany.
My own views about what is "right", "appropriate", "crude", or "ignorant" will not determine the right of people to either write or read that sort of thing, however you might define it.
I leave it to YOU to make that decision, NOT ME.
>>I really think allowing this crap lowers the tone of discourse here.
Does anyone here really believe that's possible?
